Origination of Seervi Caste :-

Seervi caste is derived from kshatriya rajput caste. They given up wars and became farmers. Now there main buisness was agriculture.Although they were very hard working, they took farms on hire (in hindi i.e.sajha) and started to work and became very good and prosperous farmer.
When Alauddin Khilji attacked and became ruler of Jalore He started jajia kar from praja of Jalore. They moved  towards Luni river where was enough water for irrigation.

Derivation of Name "Seervi" :-

There are two tellings about derivation of name "Seervi".
They are as follow-

  1. Although Seervi's were very hard working, they took farms on hire (in hindi i.e.seer sajha) and started to work and   became very good and prosperous farmer. They took lands on seer sajha so that they are called "Seervi".
  2. Another telling is that Jiji or Aai mata given them 11 rules to follow which they promised ("in hindi i.e.sirodharya" and "in rajasthani i.e.seer vi") to follow so they are called "Seervi". 

24 Gautras of Seervi Caste :-

There are 24 Gautras in Sirvi caste which are known to be given according to earlier 24 villages of seervi's where they was settled after sacrificing wars and when they started farming.
